The new dimension of comfort for the captains of the highway

Mo.T.I.S. live-in cab for long distance transport is available since autumn 2008

On the IAA 2008 in Hannover Mo.T.I.S. celebrates the world premiere of the multi-functional live-in cab system for long distance transport trucks. Mo.T.I.S. transforms the truck cab into a comfortable living space, where the trucker can perfectly work, live and sleep – briefly: an apartment on wheels. Mo.T.I.S. consists of different live-in modules, that can be built into the cabs as delivered. In the medium term it is planned to install the live-in modules directly in the plant of the truck manufacturer.

The trend-setting design study by hymer idc presented by a supplier consortium on the IAA 2006 as a vision that caused a sensation in professional circles, is now ready for the market. First close-to-production versions are integrated into the Mercedes Benz Actros Megaspace and the MAN TGX. Both will be shown to professionals on the Mo.T.I.S. stand B 27, hall 13 at the commercial vehicle IAA in Hannover starting on 24 September 2008.

Mo.T.I.S. stands for Modular Truck Interior Systems and gave its name to the limited liability company when founded in June 2008. Behind the company there are partners having decades of experience in vehicle construction and caravaning. They are the system suppliers at the same time.

  • Hymer Cab Interior GmbH for bed and kitchen design as well as for the multi-functional basic carrier system, the interior aluminium spaceframe (Mo.T.I.S-IAS)
  • REMIS GmbH for the complete bath and toilet module as well as the plissee cassette blinds
  • Bauer Kunststofftechnik GmbH for moulded plastic components, linings and flaps of the interior system
  • DIRKS Automotive B.V. system partner for planning, production and assembly
  • As well as Mo.T.I.S-Initiatoren vom hymer idc GmbH & Co. KG, responsible for product management, overall integration, development and design

That is the reason why Pforzheim was selected as the head office of Mo.T.I.S. GmbH, with Prof. Johann Tomforde as managing director, who has taken on this job in addition to his functions as general manager of hymer idc.

In October 2008 the first assembly plant will launch manufacture completing ready cabs as delivered with Mo.T.I.S. system modules in the versions Basic, Comfort and Premium. This will take place at the beginning at Dirks Automotive B.V. in Hannover, who has rented plants in the industrial park of Continental AG in Hannover.

But according to the statement of hannoverimpuls, the regional business development company, there are still sufficient expansion possibilities for Mo.T.I.S. GmbH in well-placed locations with respect to transport, logistics and marketing strategies in and around Hannover.

After the introduction phase with the numerous inquiries of forwarding agencies, vehicle fleet companies and big leasing companies, Mo.T.I.S. GmbH is also prepared to deliver the modules directly to the truck manufacturers. The assembly could then be realized right next to their factories.

From the IAA 2006 onwards the input from numerous discussions with carriers, truckers, truck and part manufacturers, as well as the German Association for Technical Inspection (TÜV) and the professional association was implemented into the development of the series version. The result is a modular, thoroughly rationalized new Mo.T.I.S. generation, with its very moderate prices of 9.500 € up to approx. 14.900 € for the Premium version, an invest for the well-being of the drivers which can be written off on the short term.
